Irish Road Trip Part I: Dublin to Roundwood

July 13-15

We set off on a 12-day venture around Ireland via car. We rented our manual transmission, Opel Corsa from Budget Rent A Car (with full insurance) using the site DiscoverCars.com.

After picking up our rental at Dublin Airport, off we went on the relatively short drive (~60 km) to Roundwood.

Driving from the right seat, shifting with my left hand, and navigating intersections and roundabouts was quite a challenge as I had to unlearn more than 45+ years of driving instinct.

Our Hosts in Roundwood

In Roundwood, we had the pleasure of staying with our hosts, Clare and David. Despite not knowing each other beforehand, we were warmly welcomed into their home for two nights. The connection came through Clare’s sister, who happened to be Sara’s (Nancy’s daughter) boss. Their generous hospitality left a lasting impression, and we hope to return the favor if they ever find themselves in Southern California.
