Imperial City
The Imperial City is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The citadel complex was heavily damaged in two armed conflicts. The first between the French and the Viet Minh in 1947 and again in 1968 during the Tet Offensive which involved the US Marines and ARVN fighting PAVN (NVA) and the Viet Cong (VC). The site has undergone extensive restoration and preservation.
