Avignon and Provence Bike Tour

After the Tulip Bike Tour, the next leg of the trip was Avignon, France where we would embark on a bike tour of Provence. To get there we made the first use of our Eurail pass. This was a long day of trains that began at 10am in Alkmaar, Netherlands and finished at 10pm in Avignon.

The ancient town center (an UNESCO World Heritage site) is enclosed by its medieval walls which also contain the Avignon Papal Palace, home of the Papacy between 1309 and 1377.

Provence Bike Tour

Our Provence bike tour covered 135 km over four days of cycling. The Provence area is known for its wine and its Lavendar (although we missed the Lavendar season). We started in Avignon and stopped overnight in Orange, Seguret, Mazan, and finished in L’Isle-Sur-la Sorgue.
