Exploring Hastings: Coastal Charm and a Journey Through History

Aug 12-17

This stop was a lovely place we both enjoyed. The town shows its wear but also its charm. We found the people very friendly and engaging.

The place is famous, of course, for William the Conqueror coming ashore here in 1066 to confront King Harold at the “Battle of Hastings”. The battlefield is actually in a town appropriately named “Battle”.

With this history as the background, we set out to enjoy our 5 days on the English Channel.

Our Place – The Bank Hotel & Bistro

The location was great with the sea (and Goat Ledge) directly across the street. Our room was on level 3 which means 3 flights of stairs. The journey from the front door to our room was always an adventure going through multiple doors and traversing hallways. Watch the video.
